SERVPRO of Pulaski & Laurel Counties Co-Owner, Julie Roberts, earned recognition for continuing education in Small Business Leadership last month, by completing the Southeast Kentucky Economic Development’s Core Four Business Planning Course. The four week course, held in Williamsburg, Kentucky, focused on strategic planning for small businesses. With classes in Marketing Plan Development, Cash Flow, Operations Management, and Funding, the course helps local business owners like Roberts not only start new businesses, but develop existing ones. Roberts, together with her husband, Tony, have owned SERVPRO of Pulaski and Laurel Counties in London, Kentucky, for over 10 years now. They also own additional locations in the Berea/Richmond area, and the Pikeville/Prestonsburg area.
“After 11 years of doing business operations on a daily basis, sometimes you forget the small planning phases that are what built your business initially,” Roberts said. “Core Four helped me take my business back apart, re-evaluate the foundation, and set up a solid plan for our future, both short and long term.”
SKED offers many classes for small business owners throughout Eastern and Central Kentucky. “SKED has afforded us so many opportunities with business ownership I didn’t dream were possible,” said Roberts. “I encourage anyone interested in getting into small business ownership, or even interested in further developing what you have, to attend one of these classes.”
